Portuguese technology specialist DTECH has launched a three-in-one add-on for the popular Flipper Zero debug and security analysis tool: the Black Onix Board, which includes two additional sub-gigahertz radio modules and an Espressif ESP32 module for Wi-Fi connectivity.

"The creation of the Black Onix board was driven by a desire to push the boundaries of what's possible with the Flipper Zero," the company's anonymous founder explains of the accessory board's inspiration. "With this setup, you are ready to tackle any wireless communication challenge that comes your way. Whether you are a security enthusiast, an ethical hacker, or just someone curious about the possibilities of the Flipper Zero, the Black Onix is an essential addition to your toolkit."

The Black Onix isn't a standalone tool, but an accessory designed for use with the Flipper Zero. For those unfamiliar, the Flipper Zero — originally billed as a "hacker's multitool" before negative responses from governments and law enforcement types delivered a hasty rebrand — is a compact gadget with sub-gigahertz, Near-Field Communication (NFC), Radio-Frequency ID (RFID), infrared, and general-purpose input/output (GPIO) connectivity, amongst others, driven through a user interface inspired by virtual pets like the Tamagotchi.

On its own, a Flipper Zero is powerful enough; since its launch, however, its capabilities have been expanded through both official and third-party accessory boards, many focused on adding Wi-Fi connectivity. That's exactly what the Black Onix delivers, courtesy of an Espressif ESP32 module and dedicated 2.4GHz antenna — but it also goes further, adding two more sub-gigahertz radio modules on top of the one built into the Flipper itself.

"The [Ebyte] E07-433M20S module operates in the 425 to 450.5MHz range, offering a wide range of wireless communication applications," DTECH explains of the first of the two new radio modules. "The E220-900MM22S module is optimized for frequencies between 850 and 930MHz, ensuring robust coverage for your signal transmission and reception needs."

The Black Onix board is now available to order on the DTECH Tindie store at $100; a 3D-printable carry case design is available as free-to-download STL files, or can be added to an order pre-printed and fully assembled for an additional $9.99.
