Smart Irrigation IOT

Automatically irrigate crops taking into account forecasted weather and current water content of the soil to minimise water usage.

Story

My wife is passionate gardener every day she looks after her plants. However we only have limited storage for rainwater. So I decided to build this automated irrigation system. To minimise water usage the system collects weather information via an API (connected to the house WIFI). If significant rain is predicted there is no need to irrigate. Also via a 3D printed sensor soil humidity is measured and the system only irrigates up to a given soil humidity. Those two parameters guarantee sufficient irrigation with a minimum of water consumption.
