If you’ve ever stepped into TinkerSpace Kochi, India you’ve likely seen the large LED wall stretching across the entrance. The idea began during the Tink-her-hack event, where we showcased a 4-foot scrolling LED display. After the event, the space managers Jasim Cm and Johnson Regi approached us with a challenge: could we scale it up significantly?
This led to several weeks of planning, designing, wiring, debugging, and long nights of work. We used over 9000 WS2812B addressable LEDs, developed a custom font rendering system, and built a Wi-Fi-based mobile control interface.
The final result is a fully programmable LED matrix display that spans the entire entry wall of TinkerSpace, controllable directly from a smartphone.
SpaceMatrix is one of the projects we are most proud of, built through collaboration, persistence, and a shared passion for creating something impactful.
