Empty the Bin: IoT-Enabled Smart Waste Management System

Our project focuses on developing an IoT-enabled Smart Waste Management System. Motivated by the need for more efficient waste collection processes, we designed intelligent bins with sensors (IR or ultrasonic) that detect fullness and send real-time notifications using MIT app inventor and GPS sensor for location. The decision to create this system stems from our commitment to revolutionize global waste management, reducing environmental impact and enhancing overall efficiency. The Microchip AVR-IoT-Cellular-Mini serves as the central processing unit, managing the sensor data and facilitating communication with waste collection trucks. This innovative solution transforms waste management into a dynamic, data-driven process, promoting sustainability and responsiveness to community needs.
